Don’t have a blender? Well it’s time to invest! Whether you have $100 to spend on a Magic Bullet (which doesn’t work well with ice), or $25 to spend on a Walgreens blender (I bought the latter after the former broke, and it works great), you’ll need this essential tool to ensure you enjoy your summer that much more. Why? So you can make these scrumptious drinks of course! Your Morning Energizer
If you’d like nothing more than to stay svelte and regular this summer, whip up this concoction at least four times a week: One cup raw spinach, one whole banana, 1/3 cup fresh pineapple, and one tsp of Chia seeds. Starting your morning with this drink will enable great digestion, energy throughout the day, and it’s a great way to ensure that you are getting greens in that day! The chia will give you that bump of protein and satisfaction, as well as plenty of omega 3s! Sometimes I’ll add a couple drops of Echinacea if I’m particularly busy, to ward those germs off!
A Mid-Day Snack
For a snack between meals, or to pair with a light salad, I absolutely love making peanut butter smoothies. It’s easy to turn this into dessert by adding bananas and chocolate, but I think you’ll find adding almond milk, raspberries and blueberries is equally tasty! Use 2-3 tbsp of natural peanut butter (skippy and jif have lots of added crap and trans fats). This is a lighter and healthier way to enjoy a treat, and berries are strong antioxidants! The peanut butter will keep you sated until dinner!
Your Evening Treat
For an evening treat, try a home-made Strawberry daiquiri. Yet the key here is you won’t be using anything packaged. You’re going to make everything with real fruit. Blend three cups of frozen strawberries with one cup of crushed ice, 3 tbsps fresh lime juice, 6 limes, and half a cup of pineapple (for sweetness). This recipe is great virgin or alcoholic, but for the latter I prefer using one cup of white rum. Cheers!
